FAVES | September 2016

I say this every time, but HOW IS IT OCTOBER ALREADY?! This year is passing so quickly, I can't keep up. You may have seen most of these favourites before, in my USA Beauty Haul. I just can't stay away from them this month!

First up is Too Faced's Hangover RX Replenishing Primer. Right of the bat, the smell of this product got me. It's so fresh and fruity. I'm sold! It's hydrating, moisturizing, and feels lightweight on the skin. It's long-lasting too. My first time using it, my makeup was on 12+ hours. At the end of the day, it looked just as good as when I put it on! This product surprised me, I normally go for silicone based primers. It might even be my new favourite! The Hangover RX Replenishing Primer retails at €32, and is available from Debenhams.

Next up, the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Glow 24 Hour Foundation. Another one that surprised me. I've tried the other foundations in the Infallible collection, and we did not get on. I only picked this one up because it said Pro Glow, and because I'm a believer in second chances. And third chances, it seems! It's a medium coverage foundation, with a glowy, luminous finish. My shade is 208 Sun Beige. I really, really like it. It blends and settles well into the skin. I found the rest of my makeup sat nicely on top too! If you have oily skin, I would suggest a matte primer. I personally don't mind the sweaty glow! I haven't found anything online about an Irish release, but I'll keep you updated!

Boy, am I late to the party on this one?! I am, of course, talking about the Becca Cosmetics X Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. While I'm a huge fan of Jaclyn, I was reluctant to purchase this product, for whatever reason. HOW WRONG WAS I? This is the highlight for me. I'd go so far as to call it a gift from the highlight gods! Bold, but necessary. Champagne Pop is a gorgeous white gold highlight, with major peachy, rose undertones. Obsessed! The formula is super smooth, buttery, and so so sooooo pigmented. It's buildable too, but I suggest just lashing it on 'til your hand's sore. Shame on me for ever doubting Mrs, Hill! Champagne Pop is available from Space NK and Cult Beauty, and retails at around the €38 mark.

Now, you may, or may not, know that I have a little problem with liquid lipsticks. They're just so convenient. They don't require as much maintenance as regular lipstick, and they're nearly always matte. Obviously, I'm obsessed! So in saying that, I had to try the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks. While I was in America, I picked up four: Dolce, Ashton, and the two featured today: Sepia and Trust Issues. These two shades are so perfect for the Autumn/Winter season. Sepia is a grey-brown, while Trust Issues is a winey-purple. The shade range is massive, and getting bigger with new releases all the time. The formula itself is long-wearing, pigmented and super matte. It is drying, so I'd avoid these if that's not for you! A major downside to these liquid lips, they're not available in Ireland yet. However if you don't mind the shipping costs, you can get you some over on the Anastasia website, or from Sephora. They retail at $20 each.

L: Sepia R:Trust Issues

My last beauty favourite is a skincare gem. It's the Boscia Makeup Break Up Cool Cleansing Oil. The guy is amazing! He takes makeup off, even anything waterproof, in an instant. While it's a cleansing oil, there isn't an oily residue left on the skin. It's very gentle and soothing, ideal for anyone who's skin is any way sensitive. I bought the travel mini to try, but I'll definitely be buying a full size in the future. The 10ml mini retails at $10, while the 30ml full size is $30, available from Sephora.

This very last favourite might be my all time favourite thing I've ever purchased. I say that ALL the time, but I really mean it this time. For as long as I can remember, Beauty and The Beast has been my favourite Disney movie. It's number one on my list, no matter what mood I'm in. So obviously, I couldn't wait to get back to Disney World, where New Fantasyland was built. Equipped with Beast's Castle, Gaston's Tavern, and Belle's house, it was like being in the movie! I was so amazed. It was a dream come true! I couldn't leave without my fave little guy, Chip. I've looked all over the internet for a good quality Chip cup, but it was next to impossible. I even scoured Disneyland Paris, with no luck. Guess you have to go straight to the source! This guy retails at $21.99 plus tax, and can be found in gift shops throughout Magic Kingdom, and Disney Springs.

What made the cut for your September favourites?!

FAVES | August 2016

Hello September, it's so good to finally see you! I'm not usually one to wish time away, but I've been waiting for this month for a lifetime. Dramatic or what? I DON'T CARE, IT'S HOLIDAY TIME! I honestly feel like I haven't stopped talking about this trip. Oops! Anyway, before I go, we have to get through these favourites. Let's jump in!

First up is the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moisture. I've actually been trialing the Miracle Moist range all summer, in the hopes of livening up my hair. Because my hair is so long and thick, I find it gets dehydrated very easily. I've tried masks and treatments, but nothing lasts longer than a wash or two. Since I started using the Miracle Moist range, I've really noticed a difference! My hair's not nearly as dry as it once was. I feel like a new woman. With the promise to hydrate in 3 minute, it's not difficult to work this miracle worker into your routine. Plus, the smell of these products is out of this world! Boots is currently running a 3 for 2 offer on all Aussie products. What more could you ask for?

Next is the Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Amazing Makeup Fixing Spray. I didn't buy into fixing spray hype for a very long time. But after trying this one, I'm converted! The spray promises to protect your makeup from all weather conditions, and a lasting time of up to 8 hours. I did find all this to be true! It does smell a little funky, but I can get over that! The Pro Fix Amazing Makeup Fixing Spray retails for around the €7 mark on the Makeup Revolution website, and can also be found at Castle Pharmacy in Waterford.

The Inglot 854 Full Metal Lip Liner is a new love of mine. With the fear that my beloved Beurre Cremestick Liner by MAC has been discontinued, Inglot has come to my rescue. 854 is the closet shade I've found to Beurre, and I've never been more excited by a dupe! It's a red-toned brown. The formula contains shea butter, so it's comfortable on the lips. This also makes it wearable by itself. It's super long-wearing too! YAY! The lip brush on the other end makes for easy application. The Full Metal lip liners retail at €15.00 and can be found here.

I was intrigued by Primark's new skincare range, so I picked up the Face The Day Moisturizer to try out. I ended up really liking it!The name suggests that it's a day cream, but with no clear indication, it can be used anytime. It absorbs quick enough, and doesn't leave the skin sticky like some moisturizers do. The smell isn't too overbearing either, which is great. The Face The Day Moisturiser retails at €2.50 (a bargain!), and can be found in Penneys stores!

Lastly, this favourite is actually a gift from one of my best friends, Kate. She just came home from a J1 summer in Montauk, and I'm obsessed with the pressies she brought us home! A Victoria's Secret makeup bag, and body mist in Love Addict. The makeup bag itself is very spacious, with two compartments, and the purple colour is just fab! I love these body mists too. They're so handy to throw in your bag, and spritz throughout the day. Plus, the fragrance range is vast, so there's something to suit everybody! While we have to wait until 2017 for our own Vicky's in Dublin, there are stores in Dublin Airport. If you're in Waterford, the body mists can be found in the Waterford Health Park Pharmacy, and Shaws Department Store!

Don't forget you guys can follow me on Snapchat (elleblgr_blog) to keep up to date with everything. Plus, tutorials and hauls sometimes make an appearance!

What have you been loving this month?!

FAVES | July 2016

What better way to jump back into blogging than with a favourites post?! As it's been so long, I'm just going to focus on the things I've been reaching the most for lately! Let's jump right in!

First things on the agenda are Makeup Geek eyeshadows. Could you say love at first sight? Uh, duh! These shadows are buttery, super pigmented and easy to blend. They're such good quality, there's a huge colour range, and with a price point of $6/€5.94, they cannot be passed up. My current go-tos are Frappe, Cocoa Bear and Americano. Don't get me wrong, these shadows know how to hold their own, but together, they create the most perfect brown smokey eye. I DIE! Makeup Geek can be found here; on their own website, or here on Beauty Bay.

L-R: Frappe, Cocoa Bear, Americano
L-R: Frappe, Cocoa Bear, Americano
Ardell Wispies and Demi Wispies might actual be my favourite lash of all time. Bold statement, but I'm willing to make it. Both styles are lightweight, and so easy to apply. The thin band means you can go without liner if you're not feeling it. What's not to love? The original Wispies are long, fluttery, and perfect for any glam look. The Demi Wispies are a little shorter, more graduated, making them ideal for every day wear. I buy mine from Penneys, for €5. I find they're best applied with Duo Glue (€5.50), also available from Penneys!

Next up is Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in 1995. It's widely known that I'm a sucker for a matte lip. Add in my new love for liquid lipsticks, this one was bound to feel right at home in my collection. The Hydra Matte formula does exactly what it says on the tin. While it does dry down matte, it's still hydrating and super comfortable on the lips. 1995 is a rose-toned mauve; total 90s vibe. Perfect shade to make the transition from Summer to Autumn! Gerard Cosmetics can be found here, and here, costing $20/€11.90.

Blank Canvas E25 Round Top Blending Brushes are the real dealThese babies blend shadow like a dream. It's no wonder I have THREE of them. Plus, I'm a firm believer that you can never have too many brushes! The E25 makes the tiresome job of blending feel effortless. You'll wonder how you ever survived without one! They retail at €7.90. You can get your own here.

My last favourite of the month is a book called The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. "For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn't believe in true love, and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she's not so sure anymore." I'm not going to lie, this story took a while to grip me, like 5 or so months. But once I gave it a second chance, I just couldn't put it down! While the summary promotes a love story, a romantic element is minor undertone. The story, loosely based on real Welsh folklore, is packed full of psychics, ghosts, and the paranormal. I'm just itching to get my hands on the next installment! The Raven Boys is available from Easons for €11.70, or on Kindle. A little addition to this one; Good Reads. I love this website for finding new books, and keeping tabs on books I've read and want to read!

FAVOURITES | October 2014

It honestly feels like only last week that I posted my September Favourites. Where is the time going, and can it stop going there please?!

First product of this month may have secured itself a place on my list if all time favourites! As you can see above, I'm talking about the LORAC PRO Palette. It's a gorgeous palette, full of wearable, neutral shades and a couple of curveballs! I find it so hard to pick a favourite shade, they're all so beautiful! There's also an even keel of matte and shimmer, 8 of each. The shadows themselves are highly pigmented, and have a lovely, buttery feel to them. Only downfall? It's not available in Ireland. Boo! At the beginning of the month, I posted a more indepth look at this palette, you can check that out here!

I've been loving experimenting with Halloween makeup looks so much this month! Halloween is a great time to get crazy with your makeup, you can just pass it off as a costume. What's not to love about that?! Snazaroo is great quality paint, and they do a great Special FX wax, perfect for creating scars and wounds. Plus, you can't forget the blood, no Halloween costume is complete without it! I got this fake blood from a Halloween store for €1, and the Snazaroo Gel Blood came in a set with the wax!

This concealer, Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles in Light, has been my go to this month! It's super lightweight, gives good coverage, and is very blendable. It is warm-toned, so I would 100% recommend this concealer for anyone who loves yellow-toned bases! Don't get me wrong, I'm sold on it as an everyday concealer, I just prefer it for highlighting.

Peaches is a gorgeous peach blush, with subtle brown undertones and a matte finish. It's got a nice, silky-smooth texture, and blends easily with zero fallout. MAC Sheertone Blushes are great because the coverage is so buildable. You can create a pretty, natural flush, or go for a more intense colour - depending on what you're feeling that day!

Maybelline Color Tattoos are so versatile, they can be used as a base, or as an all over lid colour. This particular shade, Barely Branded, is a pearly, warm-toned oyster colour, with a frost finish to it. I love it as an all over lid shade, especially on days where I feel like wearing minimal makeup! It's subtle colour isn't too stand outish, but the shimmer let's people know you mean business!

What have you been loving this month? Let me know below!

FAVOURITES | September 2014

Oh My God! How is September over already?! This year is seriously flying by, before we know it, we'll be ringing in the New Year.. Eek! Let's jump into this month's favourites, there's a nice little mix this time around!

FAVOURITES | August 2014

Here we are in the last week of August, how has the summer passed by so quickly?! Here are some of the things that I've been loving this month..

FAVOURITES | March 2014

How is it the end of March? I know I said this last month, but seriously, this year is going by too quickly! Although, I am very excited for summer to come along!

The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation has been a firm favourite of mine for a while, but it wasn't until I ran out that I realised just how much I loved it! I had wanted to try out a new foundation, and ended up coming right back to this one. Who was I trying to kid? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! It's a very easy foundation to love; it comes in an amazing 18 shades, it's lightweight and easy to blend, and gives a medium coverage that can be built up! It can be found in pharmacies for €11.99.

My lips have been suffering a bit this month, so Lush's Bubblegum Lip Scrub has been my saviour! While it's quite messy (you end up looking like you've devoured some donuts), it does exactly what it's meant to! It removes any and all roughness/dead skin, and leaves your lips smooth! The best part? You can just lick your lips clean! It's completely edible, and rightly so! It'd be too much of a temptation to eat, if it wasn't! I'm not too certain of the price, as this was a Christmas gift, but having search online, the consensus seems to say under €7!

I was a little bit jealous, seeing a lot of UK bloggers and vloggers raving about Primark's new beauty line, P.S. My local store hadn't stocked it.. Until now! I spotted lots of goodies on a recent trip, but this vibrant coral nail polish really caught my eye! It's no surprise that I love neons for summer, and I've been looking of this kind of coral for ages! At €1.50, it's a right bargain!

God know how long I've been on the hunt for the perfect black jean. They've all been too long, too baggy, too big, too small, none just right! I ventured into River Island, my last resort, and stumbled upon the Black Molly Reform Jeggings. Not only do they stock a great range of sizes, but leg lengths too! I got mine in a short leg! They are pricey (€50), but they fit perfectly in every aspect. They are so soft and comfy too, I don't think I can be without them! They're also "crafted from flattering high-performance fabric in a mid rise waist" and "work hard to hold you in". Ace!

I purchased these Primark sunglasses at what I thought was the start of our good weather. Seems like I just jinxed it. Oops! I love the round lenses, and the keyhole nose bridge is very in this Spring/Summer. For €1.50, you could hardly leave them there, and I know I'll be wearing them all the time!

While I've never been vocal about my love of rugby on here, it's one of my favourite sport. From a spectators perspective obviously, I don't think I could handle all the tackling, and mauls! I posted about my trip to a Six Nation's game recently, and just this past weekend saw Munster beat Benetton Treviso in Thomond Park! It was a good game, and especially great to see the Munster lads from the national team out at half time with the Six Nations Cup. I even managed to take a cheeky selfie with Conor Murray - that's being kept under lock and key though! I highly recommend a trip to a rugby game, it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon/evening!

FAVOURITES | January 2014

January was a bit of weird month for me, blogging wise. I just could not get into a proper rhythm - not good. I'm pledging to be better in the coming months, finding a new routine and sticking to it! This month's favourites is seriously lacking beauty-wise, but I've been loving the minimalistic look this month!

My first favourite this month is Sleek's Brow Kit in Dark. This was a late Christmas gift that I received, and I just cannot get enough of it! The kit includes a pigmented wax, a setting powder, a mini blending brush, a mini angled brush and a mini tweezers all in a sleek (geddit?!) compact. Ace! I've taken to using the wax on the angled brush to sculpt my brows, then filling in any sparseness with the powder. I am seriously in love with how it makes my brows look! The kit retails at €9.99. Sleek can be found online here and Cloud 10 Beauty, or if you live in Waterford, you can find Sleek at the Waterford Health Park Pharmacy.

Next up is the Essence 2 in 1 Eyeliner Pen. This is a double ended felt liner pen, with a thin and thick nib. Recently, I've been forgoing eyeshadow completely and sticking to a sweep of liner across my lid! I love Essence's liners anyway, they're all I've used for years, but this particular pen is fantastic. Whether you want a thin line, or a full-on cat eye, this product has got you covered! If like me, you love channeling your inner Alexa (Chung, that is!), then I highly recommend this product! It retails at around €3.80 and can be found in most pharmacies and Primark stores!

I've been spoiled for choice in TV land this month. With the return of my two favourites; Revenge and Grey's Anatomy, and the discovery of my new guilty pleasure show; Made in Chelsea, I feel like all I've done this month is watch TV! Revenge has totally drawn me back in, I had forgotten about it until it was being advertised on TV! I love the plot, the locations, the fashion, the BOYS - Amazing! Grey's Anatomy is always an old favourite, and this current season is so good. Made in Chelsea snuck up on me! It's replaced the Kardashians as my guilty pleasure show, it's so beyond extravagant that you just have to watch! Revenge is on RTE Two Tuesday's at 10, Grey's Anatomy is on Sky Living Wednesday's at 10, and re-runs of Made in Chelsea are on e4 every day at 3, or on 4oD!

Fashion wise, I treated myself to these gorgeous River Island boots. They aren't to everybody's taste, believe me, they were a step outside my comfort zone (see the post my purchase inspired here), but there was something rather compelling about them! I had my eye on the Jeffrey Campbell Mulder-esque boots in RI for a while, but once these came in stock, I needed them. Honestly, I have worn them so much that cost-per-wear isn't even an issue! The boots sell for €55 and can be found in store and online!

I loved the two movies that I saw in the cinema this month; Wolf of Wall Street and That Awkward Moment. Wolf of Wall Street, while 3 hours long, is incredible. To think it's based on a true story is mind-blowing! I loved the casting too, Leo DiCaprio (my long time fave!) and Jonah Hill are great together on screen (Have you seen their skit from Jonah's SNL opening monologue? Hilarious!), and Margot Robbie was a stunning addition! That Awkward Moment starring Zac Efron (another long-time fave) was a everything I love in a rom-com! Adorable story line, good comedy, and attractive boys - what's not to love?! Both are in cinemas now.

That's it for this month's favourites! What have you been loving this month?

Until next time,
Elle.
