BEAUTY | What's In My Travel Make Up Bag?

While I know most people are done their summer holidays, I've yet to go on mine. I hope you'll forgive the next couple of posts, they are holiday themed. It's been torture seeing everyone's holiday snaps splashed across social media, but now, I get to have my revenge! Today's post delves into my holiday beauty essentials! This makeup bag is from Primark, by the way, I think it was around the €4 mark.

BEAUTY | Top 5 ...

I love bright lips all year round, but even more so in the summer months. There's no better time to experiment with bright, crazy colours than the sunshine season! So, what's this edition of Top 5 about? You guessed it.. My Top 5 Summer Brights!

LIFESTYLE | March Wishlist

1. Benefit's Hoola bronzer.
Hoola had a hype I was not willing to give into, emphasis on had! A friend of mine used it while she was doing my make up recently, and let me tell you, I'm converted! Why have I been using any other bronzers?
2. River Island Coral Peep Toe Sandal.
The second I saw these, I fell in love. It just screams 'Perfect Summer Sandal' to me.
3. Sleek Blush By 3 in CALIFORN.I.A.
I adore Sleek blushes in general, but when I saw that this palette had all cream blushes, I needed it!
4. Sigma Brush Essential Kit  in Make Me Cool
Granted these brushes have been on my forever wishlist, they are just so pretty!
5. MAC's Studio Fix Fluid.
Having delayed my foray into MAC foundations (I wanted to do my research!), I think I finally found the right one for me!
6. Mulberry Willow Tote in Ballet Pink
There's not much I can say about the Willow, other than "I WANT IT! I WANT IT! I WANT IT!". That seems sufficient!
7. A Tropical Island Getaway.
We've had a week of good weather here, and while it mightn't last (fingers crossed it does!), it's left me craving a sunny break away. Preferably soon, on an island, with all the cocktails I can drink! Oh, a girl can dream..
8. Tickets for Ireland v France in Paris.
While it might seem a tad extreme that I'd give the whole left side of my body to be in Paris this Saturday, it's the utter truth! So if anyone has a magic lamp/genie/fairy godmother that can spare a wish, it'd be greatly appreciated!

What's on your wishlist this month?!

Until next time,
Elle.

BEAUTY | What's in my Make Up Bag?

While I try to use everything in my collection, recently I've been loving a 'No Make Up' make up look! It definitely ensures my make up bag is less cluttered! I got my bag at a Primark in Portugal a couple of months ago, it was €2! What a bargain?!

In terms of face products, I am loving Rimmel London's Wake Me Up foundation. It's a perfect 'no make up' foundation as it's light coverage and super moisturising! I'm the shade 103 True Ivory. For concealer, I have my trusty Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in '3 Medium'. I keep Natural Collection's Loose Powder in Warm Translucent for setting all that in place.

With a 'no make up' face, I usually just sweep some of Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden over my lid and I'm good to go! If I do want some colour, I like to use the Maybelline Colour Tattoos for a wash of colour on the lid. My current favourite is On and On Bronze. Maybelline's Great Lash Waterproof Mascara in Very Black is my favourite mascara at the minute, and Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in 01 Black Fever is my favourite eye pencil of all time! No matter what, brows are my number one priority, which means this Sleek Brow Kit in 818 Dark is always close to hand!

Carmex Lip Balm is my saviour. When it's not in my make up bag, it's in my handbag. It does exactly what it says on the tin, quite literally, it soothes, it relieves, it moisturises! I especially love the cherry flavour! For added colour, I keep Rimmel London's Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss in the shade 101 close!

In terms of tools, I use my hands for my foundation and concealer, but these two are my best friends! No matter what's in my make up bag, I always have a brow/lash comb and an eyelash curler - this one is from Boots!

What's in your make up bag? Let me know below!

Until next time,
Elle.

FAVOURITES | January 2014

January was a bit of weird month for me, blogging wise. I just could not get into a proper rhythm - not good. I'm pledging to be better in the coming months, finding a new routine and sticking to it! This month's favourites is seriously lacking beauty-wise, but I've been loving the minimalistic look this month!

My first favourite this month is Sleek's Brow Kit in Dark. This was a late Christmas gift that I received, and I just cannot get enough of it! The kit includes a pigmented wax, a setting powder, a mini blending brush, a mini angled brush and a mini tweezers all in a sleek (geddit?!) compact. Ace! I've taken to using the wax on the angled brush to sculpt my brows, then filling in any sparseness with the powder. I am seriously in love with how it makes my brows look! The kit retails at €9.99. Sleek can be found online here and Cloud 10 Beauty, or if you live in Waterford, you can find Sleek at the Waterford Health Park Pharmacy.

Next up is the Essence 2 in 1 Eyeliner Pen. This is a double ended felt liner pen, with a thin and thick nib. Recently, I've been forgoing eyeshadow completely and sticking to a sweep of liner across my lid! I love Essence's liners anyway, they're all I've used for years, but this particular pen is fantastic. Whether you want a thin line, or a full-on cat eye, this product has got you covered! If like me, you love channeling your inner Alexa (Chung, that is!), then I highly recommend this product! It retails at around €3.80 and can be found in most pharmacies and Primark stores!

I've been spoiled for choice in TV land this month. With the return of my two favourites; Revenge and Grey's Anatomy, and the discovery of my new guilty pleasure show; Made in Chelsea, I feel like all I've done this month is watch TV! Revenge has totally drawn me back in, I had forgotten about it until it was being advertised on TV! I love the plot, the locations, the fashion, the BOYS - Amazing! Grey's Anatomy is always an old favourite, and this current season is so good. Made in Chelsea snuck up on me! It's replaced the Kardashians as my guilty pleasure show, it's so beyond extravagant that you just have to watch! Revenge is on RTE Two Tuesday's at 10, Grey's Anatomy is on Sky Living Wednesday's at 10, and re-runs of Made in Chelsea are on e4 every day at 3, or on 4oD!

Fashion wise, I treated myself to these gorgeous River Island boots. They aren't to everybody's taste, believe me, they were a step outside my comfort zone (see the post my purchase inspired here), but there was something rather compelling about them! I had my eye on the Jeffrey Campbell Mulder-esque boots in RI for a while, but once these came in stock, I needed them. Honestly, I have worn them so much that cost-per-wear isn't even an issue! The boots sell for €55 and can be found in store and online!

I loved the two movies that I saw in the cinema this month; Wolf of Wall Street and That Awkward Moment. Wolf of Wall Street, while 3 hours long, is incredible. To think it's based on a true story is mind-blowing! I loved the casting too, Leo DiCaprio (my long time fave!) and Jonah Hill are great together on screen (Have you seen their skit from Jonah's SNL opening monologue? Hilarious!), and Margot Robbie was a stunning addition! That Awkward Moment starring Zac Efron (another long-time fave) was a everything I love in a rom-com! Adorable story line, good comedy, and attractive boys - what's not to love?! Both are in cinemas now.

That's it for this month's favourites! What have you been loving this month?

Until next time,
Elle.

FAVOURITES | October Beauty 2013

Having neglected this blog for just under a year now, I had the sudden urge to jump back in. What better way to reintroduce myself than a monthly favourites post?! On top of that, there has been a change in name! inthetwilightofmyyouth has become ellebglr. Something easier to remember, no doubt!

A lot of my favourites this month are products I've purchased because so many beauty bloggers have raved about them & their greatness! I have a huge fear of missing out, hence my need to try EVERYTHING! Luckily, I fell in love with them all, so my spending wasn't in vain! Let's get started...

My first beauty favourite is something I have lusted after for quite some time, it's MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle. This product is quite popular, which was evident when I went to purchase it this month! I managed to get the last one in stock, only after the sales assistant searched a little harder. Phew! All the hype that surrounds Soft & Gentle is rightly placed! It is such a fantastic highlighter & I fear I may never use anything else! It goes on the skin so smoothly, it's like it was meant to be there! I honestly don't think I could rave about this enough! The Mineralize Skinfinishes retail for about €28, and can be purchased at Brown Thomas, and any MAC retailer.

Next is another coveted item. Sleek Make Up's Blush BY 3 in Lace is a trio of blushes in various shades. Sleek is currently only available online in Ireland, but hopefully, we'll see it stocked in stores here soon! I was lucky enough to be able to travel to Portugal this month, & a trip to Sephora is where I managed to get my hands on this product. The Lace palette contains 3 blushes; one orange, one iridescent pink & one true pink. As you can see below, the pigmentation is quite bright, but can be blended out to be more subtle! I've struggled for some time to find a good quality blush (without splashing out on high end ones, for fear of them not suiting), but at a mere €13, this palette has something for everyone! While I think I'll be saving the orange & iridescent pink for S/S 14, the true pink is perfect for giving a 'just in from the cold' glow without having to brave the winter chill!

Giving into the hype once again, at the beginning of the month, I purchased the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in the shade 'On And On Bronze'. Once again, the hype is well placed! The Colour Tattoos are so very versatile; they can be used as a shadow base, an all-over lid colour, or as part of a smokey eye look. What more could you want? Granted I've never been a fan of cream shadows, I am a changed woman. They are long lasting and surprisingly easy to work with! So much so, that I have plans to buy several other shades too! On And On Bronze is a great go-to colour for the Autumn/Winter season, and at €8.99, it won't necessarily break the bank!

The last of my beauty favourites is by far my most favourite, possibly of all time. It is, of course, MAC's Rebel lipstick. Rebel is a deep fuchsia-toned berry, and is from MAC's satin finish collection. Before purchasing Rebel, I went through an intense matte lipstick phase, but I've seen the light! It looks great with a smokey eye or as a statement lip. Also, I've seen it suit so many skin tones, which is what's so fantastic about it! It currently retails at €19 and can be purchased from Brown Thomas, or any MAC retailer.

I only have one skin care favourite this month, and that is KIKO's Cleansing Eye & Lip Make Up Remover. This was quite a spur of the moment purchase while I was in Portugal. I'm not usually one to buy skin care, or beauty, products without having done my research beforehand, but on this particular occasion, I made an allowance. Before my trip, I had purchased Nivea's Gentle Eye Make Up Remover and was quite pleased with it, so this purchase seemed a little excessive. KIKO Cosmetics are relatively unheard of in Ireland, but they have several stores throughout Europe. You can peruse all they have to offer here. What sold me on it, besides the pushy sales assistant, was the fact that it was also a lipstick remover. I may have given her all the tools for the sale, as I was sporting the remains of the night before's lipstick, but it was something I was seriously lacking. I tend to wear quite pigmented lipstick, so this is a godsend after a long day! It does exactly what it says on the tin, and for €4.10, at least I no longer have to resemble the Joker!

This favourite is one that I have been waiting to rave about. If like me, you get bored with your hair easily, here's your solution; BLEACH LONDON. At the beginning of this month, Bleach released an at home colour range with Boots Pharmacy. In the range, available at Boots Jervis St & Liffey Valley in Dublin, Boots Half Moon St in Cork and at boots.ie for the rest of Ireland, there is a Total Bleach Kit, White Toner, DIY Dip Dye, 12 Super Cool Colours, as well as a range of colour care & styling products. Everything retails under the €10 mark, & if you spend over €25, you can pick your order up from your local Boots store completely FREE of charge. Ace! As soon as the products went online, I had my order in, a Total Bleach Kit, Toner, a Sliver Shampoo & Conditioner, as well as a Super Cool Colour in Bruised Violet. While the bleaching of my hair didn't go to plan (my own fault, I should have purchased way more than one bleaching kit!), I cannot speak highly enough of the Bleach range. I felt no discomfort whilst bleaching my hair, the kit comes with everything you could need and the instructions were simple & easy to follow! The Silver Shampoo & Conditioner are my saving grace at the minute, as my hair is several shades of blonde (oops!), and honestly, my hair has never felt better after a bleaching! I'm saving Bruised Violet for when my hair is a whiter blonde, but I can only imagine it's as great as the rest of the range! Not only is the range on top of it's game, but the Bleach team are wonderful to boot! All my questions and queries were answered on their twitter, and I was really assured that I was making the right choice in dye! While I am singing their praises, may I point you in the direction of their very comprehensive Bleach Bible. I studied this before I even thought of bleaching my hair, so I could ensure that my locks were in tip-top condition. It's a must read for anyone who might be a little apprehensive about bleaching in any way, it calmed all my fears!

That's it for my beauty related favourites for this month! I planned to included my fashion, as well as other favourites in this post, but it's already longer than I intended for it to be! So look out for that post soon! What are some of your beauty favourites for this month?

Until next time,
Elle.
